Only $5 per student per year....
Teachers can easily access the entire library of materials, including:
- The Teacher Guide, which provides guidelines for administration, scoring, and instructional planning
- Student writing materials that support the writing process and include developmentally appropriate exercises, templates, and editing checklists
- Common Core aligned reporting that allows teachers to record and measure their students’ progress all year long – easily and quickly.
Teachers may begin using the CWA anytime during the year. Regardless of when the CWA is integrated into the classroom, the CWA makes it possible for teachers to effectively follow their students' efforts online, documenting important observations during the entire writing process, examining evidence of student achievement, and recording and quantifying the data in each "Complete 4" area, which is LitLife’s overarching philosophy and at the core of the CWA.
The CWA and "Complete 4"
The CWA evaluates students in four major areas that are integral to their success as writers: Process, Genre, Strategy, and Conventions. These are LitLife's "Complete 4" that provide the foundation for all literacy instruction.
- Process: Engagement in each stage of the writing, identity, goal setting
- Genre: Understanding of the content and structure of "I remember" writing
- Strategy: Vocabulary, opening and closing, focus, details, writing techniques
- Conventions: Grammar, mechanics, spelling, overall appearance
During the CWA, students do what real writers do. They choose topics that matter to them, draw/draft, revise, edit, and reflect, with teacher guidance throughout. In understanding and developing these four key areas, students build a strong foundation for years of reading and writing.
