Carrie Malady joined the LitLife team in 2005 to share her love of teaching and her natural leadership abilities with a wide range of schools. Since becoming a LitLife Team Leader, she has coached dozens of teachers and administrators in developing curriculum based on best practices in reading and writing education that will allow every student at their schools to excel. She has worked alongside numerous school communities, helping to transform them into learning environments that give every child an opportunity to pursue their passions while learning the necessary skills for success in the 21st century.
Carrie is a graduate of the University of Dayton and of Fordham University, and began her professional life in the world of finance. She chose to become an educator after five years on Wall Street, inspired by her belief that a great teacher has the ability to impact the world in positive ways every day by sparking a love of learning in her students. Prior to joining the LitLife Team, Carrie taught in elementary schools in New York City and New Jersey for eight years. As a teacher she developed and implemented curriculum and new teaching programs, stepping into a leadership role for her peers at Ho-Ho-Kus Elementary in Ho-Ho-Kus, New Jersey.
Carrie also fuels her desire to make the world a place for all children to learn, grow, read and write by dedicating her time as a literacy volunteer at her local library. She lives with her husband and three children, Ronan, Charlotte and Phoebe, in Northern New Jersey.
