Christa Begley's professional background includes classroom experience as a teacher as well as a staff developer. As a New York City Teaching Fellow, Christa began her teaching career at PS/MS 306 in the Bronx, where she was a lab site classroom teacher for 5th and 6th grades, specializing in Literacy and Social Studies. She also worked with Dreamyard, a non-profit organization that brings teaching artists to collaborate with classroom teachers, providing arts education for inner-city students. She has her Masters Degree in Elementary Education and her Post Masters Certificate in Literacy.
Just prior to joining LitLife, Christa worked as an Instructional Facilitator in East Ramapo School District, where she had previously been a classroom teacher. There, Christa led literacy workshops on topics such as conferring, implementing book clubs in classrooms, and developing lessons for genre units of study, and demonstrating lessons and coaching teachers in classrooms ranging from Kindergarten to 6th grade.
